Creating New Relationships - Meet Marlene Oddie

September 1, 2022

Marlene Oddie - having worked as a financial services systems project management professional, 9/11 was a pivotol time. She was introduced to quilting and quickly became an instructor to the group where she was learning in San Francisco, CA. After a move to Washington State her job kept her from doing much quilting, but she continued to stay involved. In 2005 she took her first long-arm class. In 2009 her marriage and a job change opened the opportunity to become a self-employed professional long-arm machine quilter. She was a finalist in the McCalls Quilt Design Star 2011 and won the Electric Quilt Layout Challenge in 2012 for her Spinner quilt. In 2013 her husband's job change prompted her to set up shop in commercial space and quickly it became the local quilt shop - KISSed Quilts in Grand Coulee, WA. The same year she won an AQS Ribbon and got a contract for co-authoring a book. Marlene also designs quilt patterns for Island Batik, Northcott and Free Spirit. Several of her designs have been selected into juried shows and sold in catalogues ...but she is most passionate about designing unique pieces for a special recipient or helping you make your own. Find her in your local Country Register and on IG www.instagram.com/marlene.kissedquilts, FB www.facebook.com/kissedquilts and at her website www.kissedquilts.com
